ResumoThe Pleistocene sedimentary succession of the North Sea Basin has been palaeomagnetically correlated with the time-scale of geomagnetic reversals down to 1 my. A detailed palaeoclimatic curve, based on general changes in vegetation, is known for this region. The local Pliocene-Pleistocene boundary may be 2 my or older. The four classical ice ages of the Alps probably took place in the last 0.7 my.
