ResumoReaction of buta-1,3-diene with [Rh2(Pri2PCh2CH2PPri2)2(µ-H)2] leads to [Rh2(Pri2PCH2CH2PPri2)2(µ-H)-(µ-η4-σ-C4H5)], while the analogous reaction with [Rh2{(PriO)2PCH2CH2P(OPri)2}2(µ-H)2] initially generates a mixture of the -1-enyl-hydride dimmers, [Rh2{(PriO)2PCH2CH2P(OPri)2}2(µ-H)(µ-η2-C4H7)], that subsequently decomposes to a syn–anti mixture of [Rh(η3-1-MeC3H4){(PriO)2PCH2CH2P(OPri)2}] in the presence of excess butadiene.
