Resumo

The thermally induced decay of optically aligned Vk centres has been monitored by e.p.r. methods in CaF2 and only linear (0°) motion of the Vk centre has been observed. The linear motion has been found only in the lower temperature stages of decay in SrF2; random motion sets in at higher temperatures. Only random motion of Vk centres occurs in BaF2. An emission band of the self-trapped exciton has been observed in X-ray fluorescence and has been identified by comparison with a recombination luminescence band of the Vk centre.
