D. Abstract Radio positions with a mean error of +12" in both coordinates have been used in a search for optical identifications for small-diameter sources in the 3C Revised Catalogue The search has been carried oUt on the prints and plates which comprise the National Geographic Society-Palomar Observatory Sky Survey Many new identifications are presented together with the previously published material of other workers. More than 50 per cent of the extragalactic sources in the catalogue are now identified, while for sources with b" > 15 the figure is upward of 69 per cent. About 30 per cent of all the identified extragalactic sources are of the quasi-stellar type.
