Aluminum Alloy Microstructure Properties

Resumo

The flow stress features of 2519A aluminum alloy have been studied by isothermal compression in the temperature range from 300 to 450 °C with strain rates of 0.01–10 s−1 on Gleeble-1500 machine. The results show that the deformation temperature and the strain rate have obvious effects on the flow characteristic, and the flow stress increases with increasing strain rate and decreasing temperature. The flow stress of 2519A aluminum alloy deformed in the strain rate range of 0.01–1 s−1 shows a dynamic recovery character; while that deformed at the strain rates of 10 s−1 and in the deformation temperature range of 350–450 °C shows part dynamic recrystallization character. The processing map at the strain of 0.5 is obtained and exhibits two safe deformation domains (350–400 °C at 0.001 s−1 and 300–450 °C at 1–10 s−1). According to the processing map and microstructure observation, the optimum hot-working condition for 2519A aluminum alloy is determined to be 450 °C and 10 s−1.
