ResumoIn the present investigation ali 769 inhabitants between 5 and 19 years of age of Serra do Navio and Vila Amazonas, Território Federal do Amapá, Brazil, were studied for immunity against diphtheria by the Schick-test. At the same time titres of circulating difhtheria antitoxin of 284 of these subjects were determined by passive hemagglutination test. Of the 769, 640 people had been immunized against diphtheria and 129 had not. Of the 284 submitted to hemagglutination tests 247 had been immunized and 37 had not. Differences encountered between the results given by both types of tests permit the assumption that each may measure a different kind of immunity response and their results may not always be comparable.
