Abstract The hybridization between organic ultraviolet (UV)-absorbent and layered zinc hydroxide (LZH) by the coprecipitation reaction has been investigated. Various organic UV-absorbents were intercalated into the LZH interlayer space, and the resulting UV-absorbent/LZH was found to have high transparency in the visible region and superior shielding ability in the UV region.
