Resumo-Four new flavonol bisdesmosides, sarmenosides I, II, III, and IV, were isolated from the whole plant of Sedum sarmentosum (Crassulaceae). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of chemical and physicochemical evidence. Among them, sarmenoside III was found to show potent hepatoprotective effect (IC 50 = 4.4 μM) on D-galactosamine-induced cytotoxicity in primary cultured mouse hepatocytes.
