ResumoWhereas gender issues are not at the forefront of concerns facing pediatric cardiologists and congenital heart surgeons, there are circumstances in which gender may play a role in the care and outcome of a patient with CHD. However, any effect at this time is likely subtle, and large studies are necessary to reveal any such effects. The use of large registries and multi-institutional studies will foster investigation into possible gender effects, and this may further improve the care of these patients.
