ResumoLymphocytotoxins, detected by the microdroplet technique at an incubation temperature of 15°C, were found in the sera of 5 of 8 patients with lipoid nephrosis and in 6 of 10 patients with diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis In contrast, lymphocytotoxins were not detected in 13 patients with "non-immunological" renal disease. It is suggested that these results indicate that altered immunological mechanisms, similar to those found in autoimmune diseases, may be involved in the pathogenesis of lipoid nephrosis and diffuse proliferative glomerulonephritis.
