ResumoThe centenary of the birth of Celso Emilio Ferreiro is being celebrated in Galicia and, no doubt, this is one way to do justice to one of the leading figures of Galician literary system of the twentieth century. His work cannot be limited to the collection of poetry Longa noite de Pedra, recurring metaphor to symbolize the long period of the Franco dictatorship. This year, in Galicia particularly, the uniqueness of his literary personality has been stressed, which goes far beyond being responsible for one of the voices which channeled, literally, the answer to the Franco regime. Perhaps because, like few Galician authors, he promoted Galician-Castilian bilingual editions of his work, he became, for a time, a known and popular poet through its projection beyond Galicia. Maybe today this resonance has been diluted for younger generations of readers in Castilian.
