Resumo

Abstract The two Australian galaxiid species formerly placed in the genus Brachygalaxias Eigenmann, and sometimes included in Galaxias Cuvier, are placed in the new genus Galaxiella. G. munda sp.nov. is described from Western Australia, where it occurs in western and southwestern drainages.
