ResumoAn overview of addiction and crime, as well as the attempts to link the use of drugs to the incidence of crime, is presented. In particular, crimes of violence, and sex crimes, are contrasted with non-violent criminal behavior, when drug-connected. Tentative conclusions concerning the following drugs and drug-groups are postulated; alcohol, amphetamines, barbiturates, opiates, cocaine, marijuana, hallucinogens, and volatile inhalants. Based on the evidence, it is suggested that alternative methods of dealing with drug abuse and criminal behavior be explored, and that several previously discarded methods be re-examined.
