ResumoTransmission electron microscopy of Pb(Zr 0.52 Ti 0.48 )O 3 sintered with 3 wt% excess PbO indicates that there is an amorphous grain‐boundary phase 10 nm thick. The grain‐boundary phase has a higher Pb content than the bulk material. Influence of such a phase on sintering is discussed.
