Isolation and identification of p-cresol sulphate in pregnancy urines An organic sulfate extracted from pregnancy urines was purified and obtained in a crystalline form after its isolation from the more polar fraction of the ester sulfates separated by chromatography on alumina and celite columns. Its physico-chemical caracteristics were studied. Evidence was given of its identity with sodium p-cresol suflate prepared by synthesis. The origin of this sulfate and its possible relation to the catabolism of steroids are discussed.
