ResumoObjective: to investigate tetanus vaccination status in Municipal workers of the Municipal Company of Public Works in the municipality of Divinopolis, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Methods: the study population consisted of 205 workers, including masons, hodmen, street-sweepers, and workers of weeding, sewage and paving; data were collected from March to October 2009, through a questionnaire. Results: 22.9% of workers could not say when they received vaccination; 17.6% were vaccinated more than ten years ago; 28.7% reported never had received tetanus vaccine; and only 35.1% of respondents had a vaccination card. Conclusions: prevalence of vaccination against tetanus was low among the studied workers, exposed to risk of contracting incidental tetanus during their work activities.
