ResumoThe Cl+CD3CH2CD3 reaction has been investigated under single-collision conditions through resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization detection of the HCl and DCl products in a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. The degree of internal excitation of both DCl and HCl was found to be very low. The ratio of the HCl to DCl product yield was found to be 1.1±0.2. From analysis of time of arrival profiles, DCl is found to be mainly sideways scattered with respect to the incoming Cl atom, while HCl is scattered with a broad angular distribution peaking in the backward direction.
