The clinical picture of schistosomiasis mansoni has been presented by many observers of the illness in Africa, in certain parts of the Antilles, and in the northern part of South America.The disease in Puerto Rico is characterized from the beginning by alterations in both hollow and solid viscera. The liver and intestines seldom escape the effect of the disease. Schistosomal ova are frequently encountered in the lungs (1, 2).
