ResumoAbstract Slaty cleavage in the Llanbedr Slates (Lower Cambrian, North Wales) is developed parallel to a number of sandstone and grit dykes, entrained both upwards and downwards from arenaceous layers. The implications of these observations are discussed and compared with modem and fossil analogues.
