ResumoClick to increase image sizeClick to decrease image size Notes1My translation. The language in the movie is Swedish, and all translations from the movie in the following are mine.2Tiina Rosenberg mentions that Show Me Love follows the genre conventions of the romantic movie with the initial introduction of the love object, the first love encounter, the obstacles that follow, and the final scene picturing the union of the lovers (“Det nya Lukas-evangeliet” 30). Karin Nikolajevna argues that Moodysson's movie alludes to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet (96–97), an interpretation which further emphasizes the love theme. These readings support my argument that formally, or genre-wise, the movie comes across as a film about love.
