Autores ResumoThe Clergy during the Revolution as seen by a learned Limousin : canon André Lecler (1839-1920). A learned, untiring and conscientious man from the Limousine region, canon André Lecler is known for, among other works, his exhaustive Martyrs and confessors of the faith in the Limoges diocese during the Revolution, which appeared in four volumes between 1892 and 1904. It is important to situate this work in the late Nineteenth century Church, more and more ultramontane and hostile to the Revolution. Providing that they are put back in their context, his notices give many precious informations which are, however, more descriptive than statistical.
