Resumo

1. Antimora rostrata is a wide-ranging codlike fish (family Moridae) inhabiting abyssal depths throughout most of the world's oceans. It is abundant in certain areas but supports no commercial fisheries. 2. Little is known of its life history although it can be assumed that A. rostrata is benthopelagic in habit, feeding on free-living macrofauna that live on or just above bottom. It may also root in the bottom by using its spadelike snout. 3. There is evidence that the fish forms aggregations segregated at larger sizes by sex. Females predominate in catches; large males are uncommon.
