ResumoIntractable intracranial hypertension in trauma patients is associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality. Decompressive craniectomy offers a treatment option for this otherwise dire situation. This article illustrates the techniques for both unilateral hemicraniectomy and bifrontal craniectomy. The skin incisions, degree of bone removal, and options for dealing with the bone flap are discussed.
