Abstract New direct photographs and spectroscopic material are discussed in relation to the finding by Arp that there is a fflament connecting Markarian 205 and NGC 4319, objects of greatly differing redshift. The new material appears to raise doubts concerning the nature of the feature reported by Arp and tends, to a small degree, to support a more conventional interpretation of Markarian 205 as a Seyfert galaxy located at its indicated Hubble distance.
