Resumo

on the "Caroline-maru", a steamer sailing between Ponape and Salamaua, New Guinea.En route several atolls south of Ponape were visited and stops were made at Kavieng, New Ireland and Rabaul, New Britain.I returned to Ponape on the same boat arriving February 23, 1937.The stay in each port was very short. From Salamaua I flew to Wau, the gold field in Morobe, about 1,000 m. altitude, and collected plants in jungles. In Rabaul I botanized in the vicinity of the town and in jungles near the Keravat Experiment Station, about 30 miles from Rabaul. In this paper 129 species are enumerated, comprising 51 families and 95 genra, of which 5 are apparently undescribed species. The identification was made by IIATUSIMA and myself and we are much indebted to Dr. E. D. MERRILL, who kindly assisted the identification and gave suggestions on the several species.Acknowledgement is also due to Mr. C. T. WHITE who sent us the cotypes of certain species for comparison.
