Abstract A simple new method for the preparation of α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles by sol-gel process using ethylene oxide and FeCl3 as starting materials is reported. The size and morphology of α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles can be controlled by changing the initial concentration of FeCl3 and amount of ethanol.
