Resumo

Parietal “foramina” (foramina permagna) are a well recognised although uncommon condition. Well over 100 cases have been reported and the familial tendency of these defects was first noted by Goldsmith (1922). He recorded a family named Catlin, 16 of the 56 members examined being affected and the condition became known as the “Catlin mark”. Wiedemann (1957) reported the abnormality in four successive generations of one family and O'Rahilly and Twohig (1952) have reviewed the literature.
