ResumoThis paper proposes a new Total Operational Productivity (TOP) measure which is specifically established to highlight actual resources consumption in a manner that would help management to implement advanced technology systems in manufacturing industries. A Micro Computer program using UCSD-P-System Version IV.4 for IBM PC/XT/Jr written in FORTRAN-77 that allows easy determination of TOP, and associated indices is presented. Performance calculations, plots and generation of results are developed for a variety of output devices. Finally, a case study, applied to Canadian metal fabricating industries is used to demonstrate the usefulness of the measure and of the program.
