Abstract Novocaine was immobilized on BIOZAN R after activation with dicyclohexylcarbodiimide. Under the optimum coupling conditions described (temperature, reagent concentration) a reaction product with novocaine content of 37% was obtained. Penicillin G was then bound to the BIOZAN‐novocaine complex resulting in an antibiotic with prolonged action and high water solubility. Penicillin G is continuously released after hydrolysis in acid and basic media.
