Resumo

The recent discovery that some materials will remain superconducting in strong magnetic fields while carrying very large currents created the possibilities of producing very strongmagnetic fields with superconducting magnets. Superconducting solenoids seem to be especially suitable for building high resolution nuclear resonance spectrometer provided that magnetic field homogeneity be sufficient. To attain this end we have computed sixth order solenoids with an electronic digital computer. We establish the theory of compensating winding dimensions for a large number of solenoids keeping to a minimum the winding volume in order to reduce the quantity of superconducting material. Results are published in curves and table form.
