ResumoEvidence for inappropriate activation of protein kinase C (PKC) in a variety of human disease processes suggests that PKC represents a novel cellular target for development of therapeutic agents. A number of potent and selective PKC inhibitors identified recently have demonstrated potential therapeutic applications in both in vitro and in vivo studies. This article reviews the recent development of some of these PKC inhibitors based on their chemical class.
