ResumoA battery of personality tests measuring authoritarian personality traits together with the EPQ and the Cattell 16PF test were administered to a sample of students in order to identify and locate a factor or factors of authoritarianism. One factor emerged independently of neuroticism and extraversion on which the authoritarian scales loaded ‐ a factor identified as the obsessional personality. Of all the authoritarian tests in this study the Kohn scale and the Wilson‐Patterson C scale appeared to be the most useful.
