ResumoSingle crystals of a novel hollandite-type phase were obtained by electrolysis of molten KVO3. Analogy with the compound K2V8O16, synthesised at high temperature and pressure, is manifest ; but a structural study revealed occupation of tunnels by both potassium and vanadium atoms. This unusual pattern may result from intergrowth of a hollandite phase and some other species the nature of which remains to be determined.
