Resumo

The activities of the stylomandibular and sphenomandibular ligaments were observed in a specially dissected cadaver head. Opening of the jaws caused both the stylomandibular and sphenomandibular ligaments to become loose. Protraction of the mandible caused the stylomandibular ligament to become taut. Overclosure of the jaws at the protracted position of the mandible caused the sphenomandibular ligament to become tense.
