ResumoIntestinal absorption of sixteen carbohydrates was studied using cannulated intestinal segments of rats. The carbohydrates studied included all of the d-aldo-hexoses and d-aldopentoses as well as l-xylose, l-arabinose, d-glucosamine and N-acetyl-d-glucosamine. Of these, only d-glucose, d-galactose, and d-allose were rapidly absorbed.
