ResumoTHE protein requirement for the young chick up to 8 weeks of age has been reported (Bird et al., 1954) to be 20 percent. The requirement after 8 weeks until the pullet is ready to lay has been reported as 16 percent. The protein levels for growing pullets have been determined by Roberts (1929), Swift et al. (1931), and Carver et al. (1932). Because the protein levels were determined a number of years ago when knowledge of vitamins and growth factors was less adequate than at present, the authors felt that the vitamin content of the protein feedstuffs might have affected the results. Recent experiments by Combs and Romoser (1955), Sunde (1955), Leong et al. (1955) and Potter et al.
