ResumoAn antiviral factor (AVF), which is produced in virus infected plants only, was applied in purified form to leaf tissues previously infected with a plant virus. The AVF suppressed markedly the infective virus content within the treated leaves, thus providing evidence for its in vivo action. The properties of the AVF as described in the present report and in former ones led to conclusions concerning its possible site of action, its host and virus specificity, and its similarity to and difference from interferon.
