TL sensitivity is three times that of widely used CaSO4:Dy. Emission of the phosphor is in the near UV-blue region of the spectrum which falls in the most sensitive region of the common photomultiplier tubes. In addition to this, good linearity and low fading make this phosphor a suitable replacement for CaSO4:Dy which is currently being used for monitoring the ionizing radiations using thermoluminescence dosimetry.
