Resumo1. Two forms (I and II) of β-N-acetylglucosaminidase (β-2-acetamido-2-deoxy-d-glucoside acetamidodeoxyglucohydrolase E.C. 3.2.1.30) from hepatopancreas of Mytilus edulis L. were separated and purified by ammonium sulfate fractionation, ion-exchange chromatography and gel filtration. 2. The two forms have identical molecular weight and are constituted by two subunits. 3. They show hexosaminidase activity and similar kinetic properties. 4. The physical properties were ascertained and assays with negative results on various natural substrates were effected.
