ResumoThis paper deals with two approaches for genre and discourse from Anglo-Saxonic perspective of Discourse Analysis (FAIRCLOUGH, 2003;van LEEUWEN, 2005).More specifically, such approaches relate to the emerging disciplinary field Critical Discourse Analysis.Three reports on Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes' death are used from a lexicogrammatical and semantic point of view towards a discursive angle.The main aim is to show the viability of these approaches.
