A. Abstract A deep CCD image with resolution 0.6 arcsec FWHM has been obtained of the rich and distant galaxy cluster CL 0024 + 16 at z = 0.394. Even though most of the galaxies have major diameters less than 5 arcsec, the excellent image quality of the CCD frame and careful model fitting make it possible to determine the bulge and disk photometric characteristics for 26 galaxies. The nine blue 'Butcher-Oemler' galaxies in the field of view show a wide diversity of a structure: one is an elliptical, one a small bulge spiral, and the other seven have moderate to large bulge-to-disk ratios. The general morphology of the core of CL 0024 + 16 is also discussed.
