ResumoThe optical constants of ordinary soda-lime-silica glasses in their region of intense submillimetre wavelength opacity have been measured from 0.29 to 4000 cm-1 at 293K using microwave cavity techniques, dispersive Fourier transform spectrometry and near-infrared spectrometry. The measurements reach almost the peak of the absorption spectrum, with values of the power absorption coefficient of about 1500 neper cm-1. The strong refractive index dispersion associated with this absorption is clearly resolved.
