ResumoStoichiometric (atomic ratio Mo/Fe=1.5) and industrial like (atomic ratio Mo/Fe=3) iron molybdates have been prepared by coprecipitation and submitted to long catalytic tests to study the effect of Mo excess on the deactivation behaviour during methanol to formaldehyde oxidation. Results show that Mo excess improves catalyst stability mainly due to the fact that during reaction Mo seems to migrate from bulk to catalyst surface and then sublimated.
