ResumoAbstract The Franck-Condon factor between S 1 and T 2 for anthracene is estimated as a function of the electronic energy gap. It is shown that the intersystem crossing rate for S 1 → T 2 depends on changes in the S 1 → T 2 gap. Some phenomena associated with this transition are interpreted and predicted from the calculations.
