ResumoAbstract Family therapists frequently treat a family with a school-dysfunctional child without involving the school in the treatment plan. Inasmuch as the school is part of the context of the problem, it should have a place in the treatment situation. The confluence of the two systems is defined here as an ecosystem. This article reviews the literature concerning school-family intervention, and presents a treatment model in which the therapist first interdicts, and then gradually restores school-family communication, as necessary changes are effected in both systems.
