Resumo

NAUSEA and vomiting are frequent and annoying complications seen in a large proportion of patients with advanced and incurable cancer. In these patients it is often impossible to alleviate nausea or vomiting, except when it is due to mechanical causes that can be corrected by palliative surgery or temporarily remedied by various conservative mechanical means. In many cases either the mechanism is unknown or the cause is inaccessible to surgery, as in inoperable brain metastases.Studies by others1 2 3 have shown that chlorpromazine hydrochloride§ was effective in suppressing nausea and vomiting caused by a wide variety of clinical conditions, including carcinomatosis. . . .
