The effect of solid particles on the freezing of the supercooled water was investigated. Silver iodide was selected as the solid particle, and several types of contaminants were prepared. The size of the particle and wetability of the surface were varied to three, and two types, respectively. The amount of the particle was also varied. The sample water was put into a test tube and cooled at a constant cooling rate until the water solidified. The relationship between the degree of supercooling at freezing and various variables were investigated. Then, an analytical method to predict the results was introduced. It was found that the results agreed quite well with the experiments. Hence, it was concluded that the freezing temperature does not depend upon the size of the solid particle nor its amount, but is decided by the total area exposed to the water. Les auteurs ont étudié l'influence des particules solides sur la congélation d'eau surfondue. Afin de produire des particules solides, on a utilisé de l'iodure d'argent ainsi que plusieurs contaminants. On a employé trois tailles de particules et deux degrés de mouillabilité de la surface. On a également varié les quantités de particules. Pour chaque expérience, l'échantillon d'eau a été placé dans un tube à essai et refroidi à une vitesse de refroidissement constante jusqu'à la solidification de l'eau. On a étudié la relation entre le degré de surfusion lors de la congélation et diverses variables, puis on a utilisé une méthode analytique afin de prévoir les résultats. Il existe une bonne corrélation entre les résultats prévus et les résultats obtenus de façon expérimentale. On a donc conclu que la température de congélation n'est pas fonction de la taille ou de la quantité des particules solides : c'est la superficie totale exposée a l'eau qui influence la température de congélation.
