ResumoHeat and mass transfer rates are computed for condensation on the surface of a liquid flowing in an open channel. The flow is laminar and two dimensional. Surface resistance to condensation is not neglected. Non-condensible gas is present and a weak suction along the channel is applied to reduce its concentration. An integral method is used for the computation. Some typical numerical results are presented, as illustrations. These results are then related to the overall optimization of the desalination plant.
