Resumo

A new technique, real time multiple beam holographic interferometry is presented which can be used to record by a television optical system the concentration gradients inside transparent or translucent ion exchange membranes. Some tentative results, obtained with a typical optical set-up are given. A holographic interferogram was recorded on video tape, then photographed from a monitor display for presentation. In the interferogram the anion exchange membrane appeared to be completely polarized. The cation exchange membrane appeared not to have reached its maximum polarization. There appears to be a factor of about two between the maximum concentration polarization of the two types of membrane.
