ResumoThe intermetallic compound Zr2Rh (tetragonal) is of considerable interest since it has a high superconducting transition temperature but is of non-cubic structure and does not contain a Va-group element. The superconducting upper critical field, Hc2, and critical current density, Jc, of ZrRh alloys containing 3, 14 and 33 at.% Rh have been investigated. The Zr-33 at.% Rh specimen was composed of columnar crystals of Zr2Rh with [001] simple fiber texture and substructures.Hc2 of Zr2Rh is as high as 80 kOe at 4.2 K despite its relatively low normal state resistivity. Hc2 of Zr2Rh shows crystallographic anisotropy, i.e., higher Hc2 when the field is perpendicular to the columnar axis. Jc of the Zr-14 and −33 at.% Rh specimens is related to their metallographic structures.
